He gave everything else up to the Lord and even went into ministry full time, but this is one thing he desired more than anything.So you can imagine how he must have felt when the Lord said to him, “The one thing I require of you is your doctorate.

This goes way beyond an inner conviction. Now I have already painted some pictures for you on what an apostle looks like, but I want to bring it home now and apply it practically to your apostolic calling.

If so, then you are ready to begin traveling along this way and you are ready to see what waits.Along with a personal conviction, you need a confirmation of your calling.

This great calling is made possible by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for our sins and the forgiveness He made freely available.And this forgiveness was not for us to continue practicing sin as a way of life, but in repentance to cease from that and obey God. You may be able to identify with all of them, maybe you will not. Jesus’ preaching of the gospel was accompanied by a call to action and faith: “Repent, and believe in the gospel” (As already mentioned, if God is calling you, you will have awakened to the need for change in your personal life—to bring it into line with the godly standards and values shown in the Scriptures, “to live a life worthy of the calling you have received” (The promises of God should inspire faith—deep trust in God. Not at all, it is just who he is, he cannot help himself.The apostle is the same. Even amongst the apostles of his time, he stood apart. How misdirected he was! We meet every morning by 5.42am at each time zones. Firstly a leader is someone who has followers! You will know what you are and you will know what you are called to be.So consider this as being the first big marker along your apostolic voyage. As Paul told a Greek audience steeped in idolatry: “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. Just as Jesus went to the cross and faced death for us, so also will you be called time and time again to face sufferings and to overcome them for the sake of others.

He shared how when he first started out in ministry he was put in charge of the youth group. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every rhema word be established. Have you ever tried lifting weights to tone up your muscles? You always find yourself on the outskirts of church fellowship and standing outside of the boundaries of “how things are done” in the local church.You are not complacent or satisfied with how the church is run and you burn with a greater vision. So that these are the signs of an apostle that Paul refers to here. Thousands of years later the same principles are still being applied by the Holy Spirit and so as one called to the apostolic ministry you will find the foundation of your calling in obscurity.1 Corinthians 4:10 We [are] fools for Christ’s sake, but you [are] wise in Christ; we [are] weak, but you [are] strong; you [are] honoured, but we [are] despised.

Jesus made it clear that no one can come to Him unless God the Father draws him (John 6:44; John 6:65). He is discontent with the meager bits of teaching and truth that are handed out and seeks more. If you were content with the way things were and you were accepted by the majority, then you would not be separated would you?I am afraid that this is a great price for one to be called an apostle and if you find yourself having a need to be accepted or recognized, then you are about to find out that being ‘separated’ is part and parcel of the apostolic calling.Galatians 2:6 But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatever they were, it makes no difference to me: God accepts no man’s person; for those who seemed [to be somewhat] in conference were no greater than me:Paul certainly understood this sign of apostleship! (AMIV)It is not enough to just receive the rhema for yourself, there needs to be a confirmation in the mouth of witnesses. It seemed to me that the whole world was against me and that I was the greatest failure of them all! Who could have prepared Abraham for the sacrifice of Isaac?

If you take a look at Paul’s life, you will note that for the first part of it, he persecuted the Christians! Jesus knew He was the son of God from very young.

But let every man pay attention how he builds on it.
