i’m not the type to start wars and civs don’t declare war on me too often, so i don’t rlly have to worry about that.Depends on the game im playing, sometimes my citites are min distance from each other sometimes there far apart, depends on terrain and the resources around, if there are high resource spots ill divide them into 2 or 3 cities each so my cities are then usually minimum distance from each otherI usually put them 5 tiles apart so the cities have a slightly more room for improvements compared to 4 tiles apart and able to have more district adjacency bonus from different cities' districts. The penalties for going wide are definitely a lot smaller than they were in Civ V.

Having a shitload of one really important district (like campuses) is just better than having a big city with a variety of districts.
However, the Industrial Zone buildings don't stack with each other (because they nerfed that >.< ) so build Factories and Power Plants in such a way that they cover your cities without overlapping too much.
