Connecting the two 8-pin connectors with two separate non daisy chained cables is fine. if you can then 2x cables from PSu to GFX card is better but not esential -  I just want to know what advantage there is to using 2 separate cables connecting your GPU to your PSU. From the PSU side of things, the power is all being generated on one rail anyway (as long as it's a relatively modern psu, atx 2.3+), so you won't gain any efficiency benefits. Jayztwocents did a video on this a few years back. Use two dedicated PCIe power cables from your PSU to run your RTX 2080 (Ti) and avoid annoyances.

I did switch out the cables because there is really no reason not to. Also having one PCIe power cable is an indication the PSU was not designed to handle graphics cards of that power.
