Then I immediately ordered a copy of the second book so that I can know the rest of the story!

The children joined others on a train that took them to a village where families would take them into their home. Remains to be seen. Neglected London child evacuated for safety to the country, placed with grouchy hermit, blooms and brings new joy and community integration to grouchy hermit. She is used as a servant and cooks and takes care of her six-year-old brother Jamie. are complex and well drawn. Well, I failed! If Ada is really bad she gets put in a little cabinet under the sink where many, many roaches live.
Seems mean at first but loves and cares for the kids slowly.This is a story about Ada and her brother James. "The War That Saved My Life" will tug at your heartstrings, and reaffirm your faith in the kindness of strangers. I loved the book. Born with a clubfoot and told by her mother she was a worthless cripple, Ada didn’t know what sort of life she was missing.
