Cage has been on a dry run for the past few years. I believe the story underneath is about people being corrupt in big and little ways, and whether there's a line you won't cross in your life. First half of review contains no spoilers, second half does as sort of a reply to the hate this movie is getting! It's fair to say that 'The Trust' is a good entry in Nicolas Cage's volatile filmography. This movie is a very good movie though it has a very twisted ending. Forget the bad reviews, these are the people who hate every movie!!! I too don't understand why some have such a problem with the ending. The reviews for this where not good and almost didn't watch it but of course I wanted to see it cause of Nicholas. I did not. But when at the end when Charlie is with his family. Another deep dive into Netflix has yielded a surprising little gem that starts lighter and funnier than I expected, before sliding into a mess of lies and death.
3 out of 3 found this helpful. I like this movie. It was refreshingly different to a lot of movies. The previous narrative was a dream of failed actress Diane Selwyn. I feel like this is where The Trust gets its bad ratings/reviews from. Paired together, which I ain't mad, but was totally shocked, and thoroughly pleased, then you will love this "inept cop buddy film." Is it like in the future and he started a family, or he is still a rapist? I love both Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood so that's what initially drew me to this movie.

His antics aren't overbearing either thanks to co-lead Elijah Wood, who is the stoner counterpart to Cage and loosely serves as the voice of reason.
