“Acrimony” is a psychological thriller produced, written and directed by Tyler Perry(yeah, that Madea guy) and stars Taraji P. Henson (Cookie of the series “Empire”) as Melinda and Lyriq Bent(Robert) as the in-love female and male protagonists respectively while Crystle Stewart(Diana), Jazmyn Simon(June), Ptosha Storey(Brenda) amongst others make up the major supporting cast. I can say that we all have done this, or know someone that has stayed in a place much longer than they should have (whether it was a job that was thankless and over-demanding or a bad relationship). I was mad at first but, ‘Acrimony’ does make a cause for discussion of men and women not just in the black community, but about the relationships of family, marriage  traditions,and bonds that can be broken by not being honest with oneself. The anger comes in when we have realized that they have taken the best moments of our lives and used us for their own benefit. I know, however, that people tend to want to see these types of films.Melinda's character isn't unique, it just went too far. There was a strong progression of anger that mounted because the Melinda kept putting up with Robert's “mess”. Showing all 3 items Jump to: Summaries (2) ... She catches Robert cheating with a girl named Dianne. Robert (Lyriq Bent) a friend from college comes to the funeral. )Overall, I liked this film even though it was not an original idea. I give it 2 and half stars. She has a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Masters in Secondary Education in Social Studies. This story is both sad and discouraging because I could see how this could happen to someone.The fact that Tyler Perry shot this film in 8 days, shouldn’t be something to brag about.
