Funny ending and lovely illustrations.I absolutely loved this book! Shadows fall over their garden. Which in fact turns out to be waking away from the mountain. But in my heart, I cannot accept this imaginative story.

It's a cute story, but it shows the Asian culture in a silly way. Several problems. But how can a man as small as Ming Lo move something as large as a mountain? I do not think younger grades would appreciate this book as much because they would not understand the trickery of the wis old man and how the mountain actually moved in the end.

I still love the story.

Ming Lo's wife is angry. The wise man gives them a string of ridiculous suggestions and then eventually tricks the couple into moving (though they think it's the mountain that has moved). They do not like it because it is too shady under the mountain, rocks poke holes in the roof, and many other reasons. A mountain blocks the sun and rains rocks on Ming Lo's house; a wise man helps Ming Lo and his wife move their home but lets them think they have moved the mountain.
