It was so much fun to see the little tiny bullet explode some of the smaller dogs. So I am looking forward to good results.I have the A17 semi auto Savage and a savage 110 both in .17HMR. For instance, a .17 HMR bullet costs three times more than a .22LR. The .300 Blackout uses the same BCG, magazines, buffer, and more. This upper comes with a BCG that’s ready to roll as well. The rim is much larger than a 5.56 round, so you are going to need to step it up. Know the target and know the range. These two companies produce some great magazines and allow you to run your gun reliably.Lastly, you may be a bit pigeonholed when it comes to triggers and this gun. It has the Bull Barrel, but not the AccuTrigger. But I still think it would be fun…….Good article Bob. Pros have the tools, time and experience to build a tight, hard running upper receiver.Cross Machine and Tool makes a very sleek and modern upper with barrels ranging from 20 to 24 inches long. H&K weapons use the M13.5x1 LH thread pitch; Glock weapons use the M13.5x1 LH thread pitch The magazine both looks and feels different than a standard 5.56 magazine. The .300 Blackout is an excellent conversion if you want to move towards a suppressed option.Rifle is fine! The CMMG bolt works surprisingly well, and I enjoy it. I don’t shoot these calibers often enough to have a reason to own a dedicated rifle in them. Please click the reload button and complete the captcha once again. The second was a Savage A17 and the third is my favorite, if I were to have a favorite, is a Ruger Single Six. But if I want to do some 100 yard plus plinking .17 hmr accuracy falls apart in slight breeze. Why swap uppers, buffers and more? The following ammunition cartridge ballistics information and chart can be used to approximately compare .17 HMR Hornady Magnum Rimfire vs .17 WSM Winchester Super Magnum ammo rounds. I've pretty much decided to standardize on Aero Precision uppers. Is there a reason the 204 Ruger dint make your list? The 30 rounders are straight goofy. Now, after several years of using the 17, have to say I’m glad I chose it.
However, mistakes happen and I know you’ll get it right next time.I thought the same thing. I switch my beater PSA rifle with some conversions that I don’t use all the time. Bullets can weigh anywhere between 15 grains for the lightest 17 HMR bullets all the way up to 750 grains for the heavier .50 BMG rifle loads. I used it for shots under like 200 yards. The 22 mag. I love .17 HMR inside 70 yards (which is fine for my application- hunting tree squirrels). .22LR is a very cheap round to shoot and easily the most economical conversion you can do for your AR-15 rifle. You can go with a dedicated upper, but let’s go as affordable as we can. Just curious. No reason against it! The little .17 deserves a good rifle and the Savage is affordable but more accurate than most of us will be able to hold. The 17-grain Hornady V-MAX loading runs at 2500 to 2600 fps in most rifles. 17 HMR is one of the calibers. My wife and I are seasoned sage rat shooters. I simply like my racy thumbhole stock version. If you look closely at the Savage action, you find a rifle that cocks on the upstroke on opening, and features a fixed ejector along with dual extractors. The thumbhole stock feels right and offers good stability for accurate fire from a solid, braced position. The fixed-barrel 452 Models in .22 LR and .17 HMR were chosen by my wife to round out her rimfire battery, and they’re superbly accurate. You’ll, of course, need a new magazine. I have a BSA Sweet 17 BDC 3-9×42 scope is perfectly matched to the little rifle. The .17 HMR round is a fun round, but it’s traditionally a bolt action rifle round. You can make your AR a .17 HMR tack driver through one of the coolest conversions ever. I believe my 17HM2 and 17HMR are more accurate than my 17WSM’s and I have two rifles with WSM’s. on the other hand is not as accurate and is not a long range round but is by far the better killers at ranges out to about 75-90 yards. The popular calibers were barely mentioned as an afterthought.
Don’t overlook the 17HM2, I really enjoy my Savage HM2 and it’s accuracies are very good as well. Might as well mention mutants which have been around much longer or S&W’s dedicated 22LR AR. The Savage .17 HMR is a great rifle for small game hunting or target shooting. The 20 rounders look a bit more normal.
You can quickly build a .224 upper with a standard receiver and .224 barrel, handguard, etc.
